2 Prominent Nigerians Dead

Professor Shehu Bida is dead.

The first Professor in Nupe land and the first Professor of Veterinary Medicine in Northern Nigeria, Professor Shehu Bida is dead.

He died at the age of 86 in his country home, Bida, Niger state after a brief illness on Thursday.

Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has described the death of Prof Shehu Bida, Marafan Nupe, as a monumental loss to the Nupe Kingdom, Niger state and the country.

In a condolence message, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said that the Professor’s demise was not just a loss to the North but the country at large adding that he was a rare gem that contributed immensely to the development of the Northern region.

BREAKING: Renowned economist Okumagba dies

Also, renowned economist and stockbroker, Albert Egbaroghene Okumagba, is dead. He was said to have passed on in Abuja.

Born into the popular Okumagba family in Warri, the investment expert was 56.

A family source confirmed the incident to The Nation, Thursday on evening.

Former Delta Governor James Ibori also confirmed the passage of late Okumagba on his Facebook page. Ibori wrote: “Egba Why? Rest in Peace, my dear brother”.

Man Kills Himself After Shooting His Wife In The Eyes [PHOTO]

Austin Umera, a former lecturer of the Department of Languages, Kaduna Polytechnic, has killed himself.

According to Tribune Online, the man shot his wife in the eyes before killing himself.

An eye witness told Tribune Online that the deceased attacked his wife in the early hours of Thursday with the aim of taking her life.

“We heard gunshots from the house and we quickly called the emergency number. Immediately the policemen arrived at the residence at Kigo Road.

According to the source, the police took the injured wife to the hospital because she was shot in the eyes. While the dead body of her husband was lying on the ground.

Court Orders Arrest Of Atiku’s Son

The Upper Area Court, Kubwa, Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the immediate arrest of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, son of Nigeria’s former Vice President.

The order was made by the judge, Hon Bashir Danmaisule, following Abubakar’s failure to comply with a judgment that he should hand over their three sons to his divorced wife, Maryam Sherif.

Sherif had, last year, instituted a case against Abubakar, at the Upper Area Court, Gudu with number CV/41/2019, which was later transferred to the Upper Area Court, Kubwa, with number CV/16/2020 seeking the court to grant her custody of her three sons.

The court, on October 27, 2020, delivered judgment on the matter, ordering Abubakar to hand over their three sons to his divorced wife and their mother, Sherif, with immediate effect.

CNN Lied To The World About Nigeria – Buhari’s Aide, Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, has blasted CNN over its investigative report on the Lekki shooting.

On Thursday, the aide stated that CNN lied to the international community, adding that Nigeria will not be intimidated.

According to her “I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria. I’m upset that they think we are so stupid that we will swallow their lies. We won’t be bullied into believing a lie!”, she tweeted.

Suspected Ritualists Caught With Corpses Of Two Girls In Coffin

Residents of Ogwashi-Ukwu in Delta State are beyond shocked as two young suspected ritualists have been nabbed with the corpses of two girls inside a coffin.

The young men were forced to carry the coffin while being paraded round the community at night.

A lady could be heard screaming “ritualists” in the background.

Nigerians Groan As Petrol Stations Sell N168 Per Litre

The new price regime of the Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, is taking its toll on Nigerians as fuel stations across cities now sell the commodity for as high as N168 per litre.

Recall that the Petroleum Products Marketing Motor Spirit had increased the ex-depot price of fuel, from N147.67 to N155.17, in an internal memo with reference number PPMC/C/MK/003, dated November 11, 2020, and signed by one Tijani Ali.

Lagos Government Orders Security Agencies To Clampdown On Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Operators

The Lagos State Government has ordered full enforcement and clampdown on belligerent commercial motorcycle rand tricycle operators in the state.

Motorcycle riders and personnel of the Lagos State Task Force clashed twice in the last few days.

On Tuesday, the task force officers seized over 70 motorcycles around Second Rainbow, FESTAC Town, over infraction of traffic laws, which resulted in a clash between them and the Okada riders.

Also on Wednesday, another mob of Okada riders chased some security operatives in Ikeja during a raid.

But at a news conference in Ikeja on Thursday, the state government said “the game was over for Okada riders in the state”.
