Patient dies in Kwara hospital after striking health workers turn off the ventilator

A patient who was on life support at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Kwara State, has been confirmed dead after some striking health workers reportedly switched off the ventilator.

According to Linda Ikeji, “Olusola Olagunju’s friend, Ezekiel Adewole confirmed the incident and also disclosed that the incident occurred on Tuesday August 25. Adewole said his friend died before being evacuated to another hospital for medical attention.

Channels Television reported that the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) at the medical facility also expressed its displeasure with the death of the patient.

Father, Three Sons Burnt To Death

A father, Okon Esua Abanga and his three sons were burnt to death in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

According to DAILY POST the incident occurred on Monday around 10 pm at Ikot Ekpo in Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State.

An eyewitness, who is a member of the same Church with the victims, The Presbyterian Church, lamented the incident that claimed the lives of the four family members at a time.

Journalist Attacked By FFK Opens Up

A journalist who had a sour encounter at a press briefing with a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in Calabar, Cross River State, has narrated his ordeal to PREMIUM TIMES.

The Daily Trust reporter, Mr Charles, told PREMIUM TIMES that he was “more disorganised” and had to apologise to Mr Fani-Kayode when he heard other reporters told him right there that he should not have asked the question.

“The question was sir, you said you have gone round six or seven states to inspect projects undertaken by those governors, and now you are here in Cross River state, rounding off your one-week visit to Governor Ayade. Who is bankrolling you?” Mr Charles said.

Mr Charles said after the incident a “security aide” to the former minister walked up to him and began interrogating him. He said he had to hurriedly leave the hotel premises.

Joro Olumofin is seeking justice for an alleged publication made on him by the blogger, whom he accused of publishing false reports on his activities on social media.

President Buhari has stated that African countries can defeat the coronavirus pandemic, in the same manner, it eradicated the Wild Polio Virus on the continent.

The President stated this at the formal certification of the Wild Polio Virus eradication in the African region during the virtual session of the 70th World Health Organisation (WHO) regional committee for Africa, at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

‘‘At a time when the global community is battling the COVID-19 pandemic, this achievement strengthens my conviction that with the requisite political will, investments and strategies, as well as citizens’ commitment, we will flatten the epidemic curve” he said.


President Buhari Will Deliver Opening Speech At NBA Conference

President Muhammadu Buhari will deliver the opening speech at the 60th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
The president is a late addition to the lineup of speakers for the conference as the NBA announced on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 that it was excited about the president’s appearance.

The conference is scheduled to take place between August 26 and August 29, and will be a virtual event due to the physical limitations enforced by the coronavirus pandemic.
