18 Dead As Boat Capsizes
No fewer than 18 people were killed when a canoe carrying 23 farmers capsized in Bauchi State.
Although five people were rescued alive, the driver and one passenger were unconscious.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Friday in Bauchi.
According to him, the deceased included eight children, eight teenagers, and two adults. He said the incident occurred on River Buji in Itas Gadau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Nollywood Actress Arrested For Robbery
Nollywood actress, Jennifer Ifunanya Ogbonna has been arrested in a hotel after she allegedly robbed a makeup artist, Blessing Yusuf, of her bag containing items worth N1.8m and escaped.
The Police operatives from Aswani Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Oyin Francess arrested her.
The incident happened at Ikotun roundabout after Jennifer, as she is popularly known in Nollywood, visited Blessing Yusuf, who wanted to travel the next day out of Nigeria.
Jennifer allegedly ran away with the lady’s bag on the road. After she had escaped with the items, she blocked every access to reach her and started disposing the items before she was tracked and arrested at a popular hotel by Volkswagen Bus Stop, Ojo Alaba area of Lagos, P.M Express reports.

Medical Doctor Arraigned For Allegedly Raping Married Woman
The police in Adamawa state have arraigned a medical doctor before a Yola Chief Magistrate court for allegedly raping a married woman.
According to police investigations, the doctor, Phillips Duru, who runs a private clinic and also works at the Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola, allegedly raped the woman in the course of medical checks in his private clinic.
Guardian reports that the police prosecutor told the court during the hearing on Thursday, November 12, that the doctor perpetuated the act in the lab of his private clinic located near the state Specialist Hospital.
After a preliminary hearing of the case, the presiding Magistrate, Aliyu Bawuro, adjourned further hearing to November 26.

Nigeria Gets New Special Police Unit
The Nigeria Police Force now has a new special unit, DAILY POST reports.
The new unit is the Special Constabulary Police.
Officers, who were listed as special constables into the new unit had their passing-out parade across the federation on Friday.
The special constables, DAILY POST learnt, are to perform the much-talked about community policing duties.

PDP Reacts To N170 New Petrol Pump Price
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the increment in the pump price of petrol.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan described the reported increment as wicked and unbearable.
Ologbondiyan said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should stop such inhuman act against Nigerians.
In a tweet, the PDP spokesman wrote: “This further increase of pump price of petrol to N170+ is wicked and unbearable.
“The @MBuhari administration must stop its inhuman acts against Nigerians.”

Sanwo-Olu Unveils First Electric Car To Be Assembled In Nigeria
The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday has unveiled the first electric car to be assembled in Nigeria.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the car was assembled in Nigeria by the Stallion Group Automobile Factory in Ojo area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Buhari Assents To Banks, Financial Institutions’ Act
President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BOFI) Act 2020.
A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said the President’s gave the assent on Thursday.
“It repealed the extant Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act 1991 as amended. This monumental piece of legislation is expected to enhance the soundness and resilience of the financial system for sustainable growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
“The BOFI Act 2020 updates the enabling law in response to developments and significant evolution in the financial sector over the last two decades.
