Bus Tumbles, Passengers Injured As It Collides With Herd Of Cattle

According to reports from Linda Ikeji Blog, a Mazda commercial bus have been involved in a serious accident after ramming into a herd of cattle along the Efon Alaaye-Esa Oke Road, with four of the occupants sustaining injuries on Monday.

The reports from eyewitnesses have it that seven out of the about 1,000 cows that were moving on the road were killed during the collision. A source who disclosed that the accident happened on a steep part of the road close to the Osun-Ekiti border, revealed that the bus which was on top speed, somersaulted and found itself in a ditch due to the impact from the crash.

The source said, “Human deaths could have been recorded but for the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps from Ita Ore in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, who quickly rose to the occasion.

“The FRSC men took the four injured persons to hospital for treatment.”

Mr Mohammed Olowo, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State FRSC Command confirmed the unfortunate incident, but had stated a slightly different account as he said that only one of the passengers of was injured in the accident.

“It was a surprise to many people that nobody died owing to the severity of the accident. But seven cows died in the collision,” he stated.
